How Acupuncture Works
Acupuncture is based on the concept that energy travels thru the body in pathways called meridians (see diagram). This energy is called Qi (pronounced "chee"). In Japanese, it is called Ki (pronounced "key").
When the Qi energy circulates well, the person is healthy. When the Qi energy gets stuck, encounters blockages, or travels in the wrong direction the body experiences disharmony causing sickness and pain.
The tiny acupuncture needles are placed at certain points to alleviate the blockages and promote the free flow of Qi. This is how the body heals from the inside out.
